"Air Filter Material" Selection Criteria

On September 9, 2010, the establishment of the industry standard "Filter material for air filters" and the first working meeting were held at the China Academy of Building Research. The preparation of this standard has received extensive attention in the field of air filtration products. The members of the compilation team include construction authorities, scientific research institutions, testing institutions, filter material manufacturers, and air filter manufacturers.

    The preparation meeting was chaired by Secretary-General Huang Wei of the National HVAC and Purification Equipment Standardization Technical Committee. Zhang Hongyan, Senior Engineer of the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, first introduced the basic requirements and significance of standard setting. She emphasized that the indicators in the product standards should be unified, and it is necessary to regulate production and lead the development of the industry. Vice President Zou Yu from the Institute of Building Science of China Academy of Building Sciences, on behalf of the editor-in-chief, read out the list of members of the standard compilation group.

Director Wang Zhichao of the Environmental Measurement and Control Optimization Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Building Research briefed the preparation team on the background of the standard preparation. He pointed out that with the wide application of air filtration products, its importance has become more and more important. At present, the country does not have a complete air filter standard, which results in low market access standards and a large number of inferior filter materials. In the market, this not only causes confusion in the filter material market, but also seriously affects the quality of air filtration and ventilation dust removal equipment, which limits the development of the industry. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a standard for air filter materials to evaluate the quality of air filter materials.

At the preparation meeting, the focus of attention was on three aspects: first, how to classify filter materials; second, how to determine the scope of filter materials; and third, how to measure products. It has been pointed out that the materials currently used in air filters are no longer suitable for the rapidly growing market. The application fields of air purification equipment are constantly changing, from traditional industrial and hospital purification systems to other health and hygiene fields. The use of products is becoming more and more extensive and the requirements are getting higher and higher. It is not possible to consider the filtration of particulate matter alone, but also the purification of other pollutants such as formaldehyde and microbial TVOC. In addition, the types of filter materials are also diverse, and the application fields are also very different. How to reflect in the standard preparation, etc., are everyone's concern. The editor-in-chief has recorded the opinions of all parties in detail. The standard is scheduled to be completed in June 2012.

It is understood that the filter material for air filter (hereinafter referred to as air filter material) is the core material of air filtration and ventilation dust removal equipment, which determines the quality of air filter and ventilation dust removal equipment.

On June 1, 2009, the three standards of "Air Filter", "High Efficiency Air Filter" and "Efficient Air Filter Performance Test Method Efficiency and Resistance" were revised and officially implemented. The preparation of the "Air Filter Media" standard further complements the standard system for air filter products.
